Razzaz meets with youth to discuss gov’t priorities for 2019, 2020

AMMAN — As part of efforts to openly discuss the government's priorities for 2019 and 2020 with civil society actors, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Saturday met with student council presidents, as well as youth from the We Are All Jordan Youth Commission and councils of the Haqiq Initiative launched by the Crown Prince Foundation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The list of priorities are the first step towards the national renaissance, said Razzaz, stressing that youth were included in its plans and projects. The prime minister commended initiatives launched by youth, in spite of the challenges they face, stressing the necessity of supporting their efforts.
Razzaz reiterated the government's support for entrepreneurship funds, noting the importance of youth participation in reform efforts, as the state focuses on human resources.
The government's action programme based on the state of law, production and solidarity was also presented. The state of law ensures development and prosperity, he said, adding that the government will work to create 30,000 jobs during the next two years as it focuses on productivity.
Razzaz also stressed that solidarity is a part of Jordanian's religious culture, which should be fostered within a framework, and reiterated that the
priority-list was open to debate and negotiations for feedback.
Regarding cybercrimes, the prime minister said that the relevant laws work to prevent identity theft and defamation, and not to restrict freedom of speech. Razzaz said that reforming the public sector could be achieved by managing administrative bureaucracy, noting that planned platforms should help citizens register complaints easily.
He also underscored that the “Country Service” programme will include vocational and military training in order to instill discipline and job skills.
Razzaz noted that the Anti-Graft Law was amended to make sure that officials provide financial documents, which will be reviewed annually.
Minister of Culture and Youth Mohammad Abu Rumman, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Sami Dawood and Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth Thabet Nabulsi attended the meeting.
