AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Sunday attended the launch of a number of e-services at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and the Companies Control Department (CCD).
The services are a part of the government's digitisation efforts, aimed to simplify and speed up procedures, improve the level of services provided to citizens and enhance Jordan’s investment environment, according to an official statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Under the e-services project, which is supported by the USAID-funded Jordan Competitiveness Programme, 43 per cent of the total services provided by the ministry and the CCD will now be offered through electronic channels.
By the end of the first quarter of 2019, 60 per cent of the services will be digitised, the statement said, up to 100 per cent before the end of 2020.
The underway integration will help achieve full digitisation within the set timeline, the prime minister said.
He stressed that the launch of the e-services in the economic sector will be parallel with the work to improve the services in the sectors of health, transport and education.
"We want the investor to devote all his or her efforts to production, creativity and innovation and not waste his or her time following up on administrative procedures," he added.
Razzaz continued to explain that the national renaissance project, driven by His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives, includes — as pillars to progress — the state of law, the attainment of a productive economy and a state of solidarity.
The premier stressed that work is underway to finalise an integrated system to support national industry and explore further foreign markets, to help boost exports and empower small and medium-sized companies.
Razzaz thanked the various stakeholders who contributed to the launch of the new services, including USAID for its continued support for Jordan's transformative projects, which aim to help the economy recover and generate jobs.
ICT Minister Muthana Gharaibeh, Minister of State for Institutional Performance Development Majd Shweikeh, Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Shamali and Chargé d'Affaires of the US embassy in Amman Henry Wooster attended the launching ceremony.
