‘Ranger shot dead by man in possession of crocodile’

AMMAN — An officer from the Royal Rangers Department was shot dead on Thursday by a man suspected of being illegally in possession of wild animals in Amman, a Public Security Department (PSD) statement said.
The department had received a tip about the man in Amman who was attempting to sell a crocodile at his shop near the 1st Circle.
When a team from the department entered the shop and introduced themselves to the man, he pulled a gun and shot First Lt. Ibrahim Tihi Al Amre, who was taken to hospital and was declared dead upon arrival.
The statement said that the man was arrested, and the gun and the crocodile were seized. Later on Thursday, Environment Minister Yaseen Khayyat condemned the shooting. He praised the Rangers for their national role of protecting the environment and safeguarding public health, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
