AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Sunday set the official working hours during the holy month of Ramadan to extend from 10am to 3pm.
The official working hours shall be adhered to in all ministries, official departments, institutions, public entities, universities, municipalities, joint services councils, the Greater Amman Municipality and government-owned companies, as of the first day of Ramadan.
The decision excludes the employees whose nature of work requires otherwise, leaving their working hours to be arranged by their department heads, according a Prime Ministry statement.
Khasawneh stressed the need to preserve the sanctity of the holy month, and to be considerate of those who are fasting.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour announced that Khasawneh’s announcement specifying working hours during Ramadan, does not include the private sector, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The ministry indicated that the hours of workers in the private sector during the holy month of Ramadan are determined by the private sector itself, according to the internal system of each institution.
