AMMAN — In collaboration with the iPARK at the Royal Scientific Society and in partnership with Zain Innovation Campus, the Queen Rania Centre for Entrepreneurship at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) launched the 13th edition of the Queen Rania National Entrepreneurship Competition (QRNEC) 2023.

The Embassy of the Netherlands in Jordan is sponsoring this year’s (Orange Corners) edition of the QRNEC. The Orange Corners initiative incubates young entrepreneurs in over 15 countries around the world, according to a statement from the organisers.

The Orange Corners programme aims to support 40 young Jordanian entrepreneurs who have progressed beyond the idea stage each year. The incubation programme provides young entrepreneurs with the training, mentorship, network, funding and facilities needed to start and grow their businesses.

PSUT President Wejdan Abu Al Haija affirmed that the university is committed to providing students with opportunities to present their entrepreneurial ideas and equip them to face labour market challenges.

Since its establishment on campus, the Queen Rania Centre for Entrepreneurship has been developing and promoting technical entrepreneurship in Jordan by organising numerous activities which have helped thousands of Jordanian-entrepreneurs, professionals and students as well as bringing some successful Jordanian startups to the innovation and success path, the statement said.

The QRNEC was established to empower entrepreneurs, particularly young people, from all over Jordan in order to promote an entrepreneurial culture and foster entrepreneurial spirit, Abu Al Haija said.

Mohammad Obeidat, director of the Queen Rania Centre for Entrepreneurship, indicated that this year’s competition is focused on technological projects. It seeks innovative ideas from individuals, research teams, entrepreneurs and also from startups in their early stages of new products and services, he added.

Sereen Doweiri, incubation manager at iPARK, indicated an ongoing commitment to support, motivate and empower entrepreneurs and startups, encouraging them to apply for the competition.

Tariq Al Bitar, the executive director of the Department of Media, Communication, Innovation and Sustainability Management at Zain Jordan, emphasised the importance of the QRNEC competition in supporting Jordanian innovators and entrepreneurs. Bitar affirmed that this competition inspires a new group of Jordanian youth every year to come up with innovative ideas that serve the community and keep up with the country’s modern needs.

Details of the competition can be found on the Queen Rania Centre for Entrepreneurship website.
