AMMAN — Chief Islamic Justice Ahmad Hilayel on Thursday urged the public to look out for the crescent moon of Shawwal, which marks the end of Ramadan, at sunset on Monday, July 4, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In Islam, the sighting of the crescent moon at the end of Ramadan marks the beginning of Shawwal and the first day of Eid Al Fitr, the feast marking the end of the fasting month. If the crescent is seen on Monday, Tuesday will be the first day of Eid.
Otherwise, Eid will start on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Awqaf Ministry announced on Thursday that the Eid prayer will be at 6:45am on the first day of the feast.
