AMMAN — Tourism Minister Lina Annab on Tuesday said that promoting faith-based tourism has become a priority as Jordan has several unique historical religious sites, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Annab cited a number of international sites such as Fatima Trail in Portugal, the trail of Virgin Lady in France and the Camino de Santiago in Spain, as main destinations that attract tourists and pilgrims as means to enhance the values of peace across the world.
In a press statement carried by Petra, the minister said that Jordan seeks benefit from the international expertise in promoting religious sites and implementing joint programmes to identify Jordan’s sites of special importance in this field. She explained that having the Baptism Site and other pilgrimage sites that were mentioned in the bible are promising assets for prosperous faith-based tourism.
