AMMAN — Cooperation and integration among countries to identify needs and work towards meeting them through scientific and political cooperation constitutes the main pillar of improving societies’ quality of life, HRH Princess Sumaya said on Sunday.
Princess Sumaya, chairperson of the board of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia’s (ESCWA) regional technology centre, highlighted her points while chairing the centre’s eighth meeting held in Beirut, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Representatives of nine Arab countries participated in the meeting, which met to discuss the facility’s 2018 achievements and endorse the 2019 action plan.
During the meeting, the princess noted that an endorsement to hold an Arab science forum every two years in an Arab country was an important recommendation of the 2017 World Science Forum.
Princess Sumaya called on members to cooperate and coordinate in preparing for the forum. She asked that participants identify subjects to be discussed, noting that the Kingdom would host the first forum in the next two years.
Rula Majdalani, acting deputy executive secretary at ESCWA, said that the commission, for 45 years, had implemented its duties by supporting member states and Arab integration.
