AMMAN — HRH Princess Rym Ali, president of the Anna Lindh Foundation, held meetings in Brussels to promote dialogue and cooperation in the Mediterranean region.

The discussions, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday, included EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica.

Executive Director of the Anna Lindh Foundation Josep Ferré also took part in the discussions, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The meetings underlined the need for a common values-based approach to address the challenges in the Mediterranean and emphasised the crucial role of civil society alongside government efforts.

Princess Rym highlighted the foundation's commitment to contribute to the forthcoming consultation process on the Mediterranean Charter, proposing a framework that integrates voices across generations and prioritises civil society engagement in a Euro-Mediterranean context.

The initiative will be a cornerstone of the Anna Lindh Forum to be held in Tirana, Albania, from June 18 to 20.

The Forum will welcome around 1,000 participants, including youth leaders, civil society organisations, media professionals, influencers, policymakers and government representatives from 43 Euro-Mediterranean countries.

The forum will also focus on promoting meaningful dialogue, underpinned by knowledge and innovation, to develop actionable solutions to the region's challenges.

It also aims to build resilience, foster cultural links and drive sustainable change.

Princess Rym expressed the urgency of empowering young people through inclusive platforms.

She emphasised that the forum provides a unique opportunity to engage young people in transformative dialogue, foster cross-cultural understanding and unite them around a shared vision for the future.
