AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, president of the Jordanian Association for Boy Scouts and Girl Guides (JABSGG), on Wednesday inaugurated a permanent photo exhibition on the history of Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, organised by the association on the occasion of the Kingdom’s 76th Independence Day, the centennial of the Jordanian state and the centennial of the boy scouts and girl guides.

Princess Basma said that the scouts and guides movement is an integral part of the Jordanian state and plays a role in enhancing the values of loyalty to the homeland, and spreading national awareness among the movement’s personnel, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The princess also highlighted the importance of the permanent exhibition in showcasing the history of the movement and the achievements realised throughout its national process, calling on the movement’s personnel to enhance their belonging to JABSGG and its voluntary and humanitarian message.

She added that the enrollment of more than 75,000 scouts and guides from all sectors in the Kingdom's movement stresses its importance and role in shaping the personality of its members and instilling the values of volunteerism.

Princess Basma commended the role of secretaries general of the association and the cooperation of ministries of education and youth, the private sector and volunteers in spreading the movement at schools and youth centres.

JABSGG Secretary General Mazen Hmoud said that holding the permanent exhibition of the association, in conjunction with national occasions, seeks to highlight the journey of the scout and guides movement for Jordan, the region and the world.
