AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, president of the Goodwill Campaign’s higher committee, on Monday attended an Iftar (fast breaking meal) banquet for some 250 orphan children, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Held by the campaign at the Mabarrat Umm Al Hussein, the banquet saw the participation of children from several orphanages and associations working with orphans in eastern Amman, in the presence of Youth Minister Bashir Rawashdeh and Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh.
The event included a variety of art, cultural and entertainment activities for the children, who also received gifts on the occasion of Ramadan.
Mabarrat Umm Al Hussein, established in 1958, was the first charity organisation established in Jordan to care for orphan children and children suffering from family disintegration.
Chaired by HRH Princess Basma, the Mabarrat provides professional and personal empowerment services for children through the information technology programmes, educational resources rooms and social counselling, with the aim of providing them with a better life and reintegrating them into their local communities as effective members, according to Petra.
The Goodwill Campaign is implemented by the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development.
