During the meeting, Fayez stressed the importance of enhancing Amman-Seoul relations in all fields, calling for more joint economic ventures between the two countries in the transport, energy and mining industries, Petra reported.

Fayez also called on Seoul and the international community to increase their support to Jordan in light of its increasing burdens resulting from hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees and the turbulent region, according to Petra.

He also called for more international efforts towards ending the Syrian crisis and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, emphasising the centrality of the Palestinian question to Jordan.

Moon voiced South Korea’s appreciation for Jordan’s humanitarian assistance to refugees and its efforts in combating terrorism and achieving regional peace and stability, Petra reported.

The speaker also said that his country shares Jordan’s stance that the two-state solution is the only formula to ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Moon pledged to work through the national assembly to mobilise more South Korean support to refugee-burdened Jordan, according to Petra.

Also on Thursday, Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh held talks with Moon and an accompanying delegation on bilateral ties and other issues of mutual concern, Petra said.
