Prince Hassan calls for sustainable policies to bolster human security at INWRDAM meet

AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan, chairman of the Higher Council for Science and Technology, on Monday attended the 13th International Forum of the Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the event, the prince stressed the importance of translating sciences related to water, energy, food, and ecosystems into effective and sustainable policies to bolster human security.
He called for establishing research centres in the Levant to enhance sharing data and propose sustainable solutions to a number of climate issues as well as empower societies by involving them in decision-making.
Tackling challenges and achieving desired developmental goals require regional cooperation and sharing of knowledge, he stressed, underlining the need for involving public and private sectors through cooperative national environmental projects.
INWRDAM Director Marwan Raggad said that the event, in which representatives from 25 countries are participating, discusses projects implemented to achieve water, food, energy and environment nexus.
Discussions are focused on issues of food security, energy, efficient use of water, improving agriculture, in addition to achieving regional cooperation in the field of water and food security.
Participants in the conference dealt with topics such as political conflicts and their impact on water resources, cooperation between INWRDAM member states, renewable energy, management of water resources, agriculture, training programmes, Blue Peace in the Middle East Initiative, the Saudi Green Programme to plant 10 billion trees, development of renewable energy legislation, food security, and climate change.
