Prince Ali opens AFC Women’s Asian Cup

AMMAN — HRH Prince Ali, president of the Jordan Football Association (JFA), on Friday opened the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The opening ceremony of the cup, held for the first time in West Asia, included fireworks, folkloric performances, and the cup’s special song performed by Nida Shararah and Hana Malhas in Arabic and English.
Minister of Youth Bashir Rawashdeh, President of AFC’s women committee Moya Dodd and Gendarmerie Department Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh attended the ceremony.
Jordan’s team lost 2-1 in the opening match with the Philippines, while China won 4-0 against Thailand, which is scheduled to play against Jordan on Monday.
