AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh attended on Monday the opening of a project to develop and rehabilitate the Salt-Arda road in Balqa Governorate.

The Prime Minister stressed the economic importance of the road, pointing to its role in linking the Dead Sea tourist area and the agricultural valleys with Amman, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Khasawneh commended the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and the project team for completing the work ahead of schedule.

Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Samin briefed the prime minister on the project's stages and the measures taken to meet its requirements.

After the briefing, Khasawneh toured the road to inspect the improvement and rehabilitation work.

The project was implemented by a coalition of Jordanian and Chinese contractors for JD26 million and extends between Salt Heights and the Jordan Valley lowlands.

The road is expected to enhance the movement of tourists and investors by linking Amman to the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley. The project aims to facilitate transportation, improve road safety, and reduce the occurrence of accidents on the road.

The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of the Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom Chen Quandong.
