AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Tuesday inaugurated the specialised surgeries hospital affiliated with Al Bashir Hospital, as a specialised hospital in chest, blood vessels, heart surgeries and catheterisation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Khasawneh, accompanied by Health Minister Feras Al Hawari, toured the hospital facilities and listened to a briefing by Al Bashir Hospital Director Abulmani Suleiman on the importance of the new hospital to provide advanced medical services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Khasawneh said that the hospital’s inauguration is part of the government’s plans to enhance medical services and provide the highest quality care to citizens. The hospital has new specialisations, modern medical equipment and receives cases from all hospitals around the Kingdom, according to Khasawneh.
The premier instructed the hospital director to finish the catheterisation section within six weeks, instead of the 12-week period the hospital had previously identified, Petra reported.
The catheterisation area of the hospital is 4,280 square metres with a 75-bed capacity and includes three operation rooms and departments for sterilisation, X-ray and catheterisation. The area also includes a lab, patients’ rooms with a capacity of 56 beds, a six-bed ICU and a seven-bed CCU.
Hawari said that the old surgery building at Al Bashir Hospital was renovated to accommodate the increasing number of surgery patients.
He also noted that the new hospital will serve as a referral centre from all the ministry’s hospitals. The new hospital was designed according to the highest levels adopted at modern hospitals and includes all modern medical devices, the health minister added.
