Pope appoints Archbishop Pizzaballa as new Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem

AMMAN — Pope Francis on Saturday appointed Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa as the new Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, ending his service as an Apostolic Administrator, vacant seat, of the same patriarchal diocese, according to a statement from the Apostolic Nunciature in Jordan.
The pontifical appointment was published on Saturday through the official bulletin of the Holy See, according to the statement
