AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Wednesday visited the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the visit, Mulki was briefed on TRC’s achievements, duties and services it provides to citizens.

Meeting with TRC President Ghazi Jbour and members of the commission in the presence of ICT Minister Majd Shweikeh, Mulki commended the “advanced” performance of the commission and the efforts it exerts to regulate the sector and provide better services to people.

The premier commended the ICT as one of the main sectors that contribute to supporting the public budget and the GDP.

He noted that many former employees of the commission are now working at Arab and international institutions sharing their “advanced” expertise.

Mulki urged parliamentary committees to visit TRC and check on its procedures, describing the institution as “a success story”.

He stressed that the ICT should be dealt with as a productive sector that is able to attract investments.

“Jordan has witnessed a qualitative leap in 15 years in providing services,” said Mulki, stressing His Majesty King Abdullah’s keenness on improving the public sector.

The private sector has advanced in this regard and the public sector is exerting efforts to expand and enhance its e-services, the premier noted.

The PM noted that the government has begun the e-government project with the launch of 10 e-services, exclusively online, and will continue expanding the number of these services, reaching the provision of trade, business and other
e-services.
