PM visits PSD, hails anti-virus efforts

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz on Wednesday lauded the efforts of the epidemiological investigation teams and security agencies in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his visit to the Public Security Directorate (PSD), the PM stressed the importance of taking “all possible preventive and proactive measures” to reduce the number of coronavirus infections.

As the country is witnessing an upward trend in the number of local infections, vigilance and “firmness” in implementing instructions are warranted, the PM said.

Acquainted on the department's plans and measures to address the coronavirus crisis, the premier also emphasised the importance of taking all possible measures to ward off a second wave of the pandemic in the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

During his meeting with the PSD's Director Major Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, Razzaz commended the measures taken by the government and security apparatuses, notably placing drivers at border crossings under qurantine, isolating Ramtha and monitoring the enforcement of Defence Order No. 11, which commits people to wearing face masks and gloves while in public,.

Also on Wednesday, Razzaz met a number of Health Ministry’s physicians working with the epidemiological investigation teams, expressing the government's appreciation for their  "exceptional" efforts in curbing the spread of the virus.  

Razzaz also called on the concerned entities to prepare a plan for worst-case scenarios in terms of the epidemiological situation, Petra added.
