PM receives Syria, Lebanon’s energy ministers to follow up on Egyptian gas deal

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Wednesday received both of Syria's Minister of Electricity Ghassan Al Zamil and Lebanon's Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad.
During a meeting attended by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati, Khasawneh expressed keenness to advance cooperation to best serve the interests of the three countries.
The premier also reiterated the Kingdom's readiness to support Lebanon, which is experiencing “exceptional” economic challenges, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Talks focused on the practical steps to expedite the arrival of Egyptian natural gas to Lebanon through Jordan and Syria.
The three ministers also acquainted the PM with the efforts to speed up the completion of Syria's infrastructure, which is required for pumping the Egyptian gas and electricity.
The minister also presented the PM a number of other technical and contractual issues to be agreed on.
