PM meets members of Al Shaab bloc

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh on Sunday met with head and members of the Lower House Al Shaab (People) bloc, ahead of Parliament’s confidence vote.
Khasawneh said that Jordan is facing difficult financial and economic challenges that have been "exacerbated remarkably" due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In response to the bloc's questions, remarks on energy agreements, Khasawneh said they are "not sacred and are subject to review for the benefit of the public".
Regarding the Attarat shale oil issue, he noted that the government referred the oil shale project for electricity production in Attarat area to arbitration on the ground of "gross injustice" in the power purchase agreement with Attarat Power Company.
For his part, head of the bloc, MP Abdullah Abu Zeid, highlighted the importance of strengthening the executive-legislative partnership.
