PM meets Jordan Geologists Association leader

AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Wednesday met the president and members of the Jordan Geologists Association (JGA) council to discuss challenges facing the sector, especially in terms of unemployment among women geologists.
JGA President Sakher Nsour highlighted the association’s demands to change its name to the Jordan Geologist Engineers Association.
He also advised against scrapping the geology course in secondary education.
The premier assured the syndicate that the course will continue to be taught in secondary school, and be a selective course for General Secondary Certificate Examination students.
Nsour highlighted the role of Jordanian geologists in contributing to the exploration of natural resources, including phosphates, stressing the important role geology can play in energy projects.
