AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Thursday received the President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) David Miliband over refugee affairs. During the meeting, Khasawneh briefed Miliband on the refugee services offered by Jordan despite the countries' economic challenges, which were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The prime minister said that the Kingdom is facing growing pressures from hosting Syrian refugees due to the decrease in support for Jordan's Syrian crisis response plan, urging the international community, organisations, and donors to join efforts in addressing the impact of the refugee crisis. For his part, Miliband highlighted the efforts of the IRC in Jordan, which involve providing humanitarian aid to alleviate the hardships faced by refugees. The IRC is a nongovernmental organisation founded in 1933 with the goal of supporting humanitarian aid and international development efforts.
