PM hands out 2017 State Awards

AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Tuesday attended the 2017 State Awards at the Royal Cultural Centre (RCC), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. During the ceremony, attended by Culture Minister Nabih Shuqum, Mulki presented the awards to the winners in the fields of literature, humanities, applied science and arts.
This year’s winners are Yousef Abdul Aziz, Taher Riad and Maha Atoum for the poetry prize; Nabil Mashini and the late Mohammad Qabbani for the arts while King Hussein Cancer Centre won the award for pure and applied sciences in cancer treatment.
Haya Saleh won the children’s literature award. Shuqum stressed during the ceremony that the State Awards are part of the general cultural strategy aimed at supporting creativity and innovation.
