PM affirms Jordan’s support for preserving Libya's unity

PM, Senate president, Lower House speaker meet with Libya's House of Representatives chairman

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Tuesday stressed the Kingdom's support of all political efforts to preserve Libya’s unity, safeguard its security and stability and restore its pan-Arab and international roles.

During a meeting with Chairman of the House of Representatives of Libya Aguila Saleh, Khasawneh referred to the “deep-rooted” relations between the two countries and their shared interest in strengthening ties, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The prime minister expressed the Kingdom's readiness to cooperate with the Libyan government in various sectors, primarily in terms of capacity building, the medical sector and infrastructure.

Saleh praised Jordan's continuous support for Libya and commended the "close and historical" relations between the two countries.

Also on Tuesday, Senate President Faisal Fayez met with Saleh concerning the importance of a unified pan-Arab strategy to solve the Libyan crisis, adding that he will coordinate with Arab parliaments to form a parliamentary committee tasked with “solving Arab crises with Arab efforts”, Petra noted.

Saleh reviewed the latest developments in Libya, expressing his appreciation of His Majesty King Abdullah for his continuous support for Libya and its people.

Also on Tuesday, Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi met with Saleh and stressed the Kingdom's support for efforts contributing to a political solution in Libya that involves building institutions, actualising the Libyan people's aspirations and preserving the country’s security and stability. 

Saleh expressed appreciation for Jordan's efforts in helping Libyans realise their aspirations and overcome challenges.
