AMMAN — A pedestrian bridge on Airport Road collapsed on Monday after a tipper truck collided into it, which required closing both lanes of traffic, according to the Public Security Directorate (PSD).
The accident resulted in four injuries, with those injured reported to be in fair condition, in addition to damaging vehicles, including an ambulance, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The PSD added that traffic from both lanes was diverted to nearby streets while work to remove the fallen bridge was underway.
Meanwhile, the Public Works and Housing Ministry said that its personnel rushed to the scene to ensure safety measures were taken for detours, Petra added.
The ministry said that field personnel managed to remove the bridge in cooperation with PSD. The ministry noted that accident was caused by the tipper truck driving while its dump bed was up.
