Parliamentary Financial Committee highlights increase in 2024 Interior Ministry budget

AMMAN — The Parliamentary Financial Committee on Sunday highlighted an increase in the 2024 budget of the Ministry of Interior, which reached JD 25.2 million, marking an increase of JD 2.6 million compared with the 2023 reassessment. During a meeting to review the 2024 budgets of the Ministry of Interior, the Public Security Directorate and the Civil Status and Passports Department, MP Nimer Suleihat, head of the panel, said that the ministry's current expenditure increased by JD863, 000 and capital expenditure by JD1.8 million. Suleihat stressed the critical need to support the security services, and the importance of allocating sufficient resources to maintain their preparedness to combat various forms of crime, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Highlighted the ministry's achievements in 2023, including the introduction of e-visas, Minister of Interior Mazen Farayah said that a total of 121 investors have been granted Jordanian citizenship, bringing the total number to 465 since 2018.
