AMMAN — Jordan has signed the joint Arab file to nominate the "palm tree and the customs associated with it as a common heritage", to be recorded on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity during 2018, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday.
Hikmat Nawaiseh, director of the heritage department at the Ministry of Culture, said that the nomination of the file which was submitted by Jordan's Deputy Ambassador to France Mohammad Hindawi came in implementation to the resolution of the 19th Arab ministers of culture conference held in Riyadh in 2015.
The conference highlighted the Arab countries' cultural unity and aimed to promote joint Arab action through recording intangible cultural events of global value in the region.
