AMMAN — The Lower House’s Palestine Committee on Sunday discussed the risks and repercussions from Israel’s opening of the so-called "pilgrim's road" tunnel, dug beneath the village of Silwan leading to Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif.
Yahya Saud, head of the committee, said that these violations will not alter the historical and religious facts of Jerusalem, warning against the ramifications of this opening, which is considered a breach of international treaties and the UNESCO resolutions stating that Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif is for Muslims and unshareable.
The MP urged support for Jordan’s Jerusalem Awqaf Department against Israel’s continued violations at the holy shrines, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday.
