Officials discuss region, ties with former French minister

AMMAN — Senate President Abdur-Ra’uf S. Rawabdeh on Monday met with France’s former justice minister Robert Badinter and discussed ways to boost bilateral relations.
Talks covered international efforts to remove capital punishment from national laws.
Badinter also met with Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh and was briefed on the Chamber’s achievements.
Badinter said that Jordan has a good reputation in the international community, referring to the nomination of HH Prince Zeid as UN high commissioner for human rights.
Also Monday, Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh met with Badinter and briefed him on Jordan’s reform drive.
Discussions also covered the latest regional developments.
