AMMAN — In the framework of Francophone month, which is marked every March, the Belgian embassy in Amman hosted Belgian chef Vincent Tibau in Jordan for a week of culinary experiences to “reveal the secrets” of the Belgian cuisine, and head various culinary events and workshops.
Among the events that Tibau led and supervised was “A Night in Belgium” on March 2, presenting a number of famous dishes and desserts to introduce the Belgian cuisine, according to an embassy statement.
“We decided to hold these events and host Chef Tibau in Jordan to bring closer and connect between both the Jordanian and Belgian cultures and introduce Jordanians to the refined Belgian cuisine,” said Belgian Ambassador Filip Vanden Bulcke.
Chef Jacques Rossel, director of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, said: “At the academy, we are always keen to change society’s culture and merge it with cultures from other countries to learn a non-traditional profession and link it to tourism by introducing international dishes.”
“We were pleased to have Belgium’s top chef here in Jordan and made sure to seize the opportunity for our students to meet him, benefit those who are interested in culinary arts and engage in a unique and different culinary experience,” he noted.
For his part, Tibau expressed his happiness to be in Jordan and his great pride in getting to know the culture of this ancient country and engaging with its community, as he confirmed that it was a “very positive and unique experience for him”.
Tibau began at the culinary institute of Ter Dunine and trained in Michelin, Gault & Millau awarded restaurants. He is well known as the chef behind the gourmet company “Absolutely Food”, and he devotes his time to conducting cooking workshops, food styling and creative recipes, the statement said.
The week of events was organised by the Belgian embassy in partnership with the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and in collaboration with InterContinental Hotel Jordan.
