AMMAN — The government on Thursday reiterated that it will not release “prisoner” Sajidah Rishawi unless Jordan receives a proof that the Jordanian pilot Muath Kasasbeh is still alive.
In a meeting with the press at the Prime Ministry Thursday afternoon, government spokesperson Mohammed Momani said once “we receive a proof” that Ksassbeh is alive, we can proceed to the second stage of negotiations, which is the exchange.
“Rishawi is still in Jordan and the swap can only happen when we receive a proof of life,” Momani stressed.
He added that until the moment of holding the press meeting there was no such proof, but Jordan is having communications in this regard through several channels.
He confirmed that Jordan’s priority is “to ensure that Muath is alive”.
Kasasbeh was captured by Daesh terrorist group on December 24 after his plane went down near the Syrian town of Raqqa.
