No SOL ‘shisha transmitted disease’ — ministry

AMMAN —The Ministry of Health said that social media posts on a new disease called “SOL” transmitted by shisha are “baseless”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The ministry’s spokesman, Hatem Azrui, said that there is no disease registered locally, regionally or globally under this name, and called for scientifically based and objective health awareness posts, rather than rumour-driven warnings.
Azrui said that the ministry is a strong advocate against the risks of tobacco on health and the illnesses it causes, foremost of which are cancer and heart disease.
