AMMAN — Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi on Wednesday stressed the importance of multilateral action in facing common economic, health and security challenges.

Giving a speech at a forum held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter, Safadi stressed the need to strengthen multilateral action and commitment to international law, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

During the meeting, chaired by Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Safadi said that common international challenges, the latest of which is the coronavirus pandemic, demonstrate that “no country can surmount the challenges of the times without cooperating with the international community”.

Safadi stressed that the international community must prevent Israel’s annexation of Palestinian lands and reject violations of international law, which will set a precedent that will be reflected in all international relations.

Jordan will continue to work with partners to strengthen multilateral action, he affirmed.
