AMMAN — A JD1.3-million main power station has been opened in Tafileh, 180km southwest of Amman, to support power generation and enhance the electric grid by covering the needs of 13,000 subscribers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Saturday.
The station was designed according to the latest electric systems of protection and control, and is part of the Electricity Distribution Company’s (EDCO) plan to change aerial networks into underground ones, especially in areas witnessing heavy snow and strong winds, EDCO CEO Abdul Hafith Khalafat said.
He noted that the station will contribute to decreasing the frequency of power interruptions that affect local residents and reducing the number of subscribers affected by them in a bid to improve their livelihood.
