AMMAN — The Muqabalein Comprehensive Healthcare Centre opened on Wednesday, under a Royal makruma that was announced during His Majesty King Abdullah's recent meeting with dignitaries from the capital.
Health Minister Mahmoud Sheyyab and Royal Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi inaugurated the centre, which would develop the level of healthcare and services to local residents, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The new centre replaces a rented facility that offered primary healthcare, and is intended to ease pressure on health services in the area.
The previous facility was small and treated some 500 patients a day.
The centre is equipped with modern medical devices and supplies that were lacking in the previous facility, so patients will no longer have to travel to hospitals in Amman for treatment, Petra said.
The facility houses a number of clinics, including general medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, dentistry, maternal medicine and an emergency room, in addition to laboratories and X-ray departments.
In an interview with Petra, Issawi said the building was designed to high standards, and the Royal Court furnished it with modern equipment in coordination with the Health Ministry.
Meanwhile, Sheyyab said the centre, whose establishment is in line with a ministry plan to develop hospitals and health centres, would contribute to developing health services in the area.
Centre Director Ayed Nashwan said the facility has 200,000 medical cards for patients, noting that 13,000 to 15,000 citizens visit the centre each month.
