NEPCO head says company operating according to emergency plan to conserve energy

AMMAN — The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) is currently operating under an emergency plan adopted to deal with the exceptional circumstances imposed by the spread of the coronavirus, so as to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of the power grid, NEPCO Director-General Amjad Rawashdeh said on Thursday. 

Rawashdeh said that the maximum load on Wednesday night stood at 2,900 megawatts, up by 11.11 per cent of the average, while the maximum load in the morning was 2,610 megawatts, stressing the company’s readiness to deal with emergency cases that may occur on the grid, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also added that the company is “keen on implementing its role in a safe and credible manner”, so as to guarantee the provision of electric power.
