AMMAN — The National Cyber Security Centre handled 2455 cyber security incidents in 2023, marking an increase of 80 per cent compared to 2022, when 1,362 incidents were recorded, according to the centre’s president, Bassam Maharmeh.

During a media briefing titled “The Reality of Cyber Security in Jordan 2023” on Tuesday, Maharmeh said that the incidents addressed by the centre included both the private and public sectors, with the majority of recorded incidents related to the public sector.

The economic impact of cyber attacks on the Jordanian economy is estimated at $150-200 million annually, he said.
