AMMAN — The Musical Evenings in downtown Amman kick off Thursday, with the expected participation of a wide range of Jordanian, Arab and international artists, organisers said.

Organised by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, the event will be held to support local talent in the Kingdom, according to the foundation’s communication and public relations director, Eyad Al Moaati.

“The event is held for the fourth time and we wanted to give a space for these aspiring artists to showcase their talent and to promote their work locally,” he told The Jordan Times on Wednesday.

Moaati said such activities give local artists the opportunity to perform side by side with Arab and international artists.

The event will kick off on Thursday, with an orchestra performance of international and local musicians.

“This will be a promising show, because a total of 60 artists will give a performance that should be exciting for musical fans,” he said.

An all-female show will take place on the second day of the event, during which four Arab and local female singers are due to perform in downtown Amman, Moaati said, anticipating “a great turnout”.

The last evening will consist of two performances by two separate bands.

Tickets for the event are free of charge, Moaati noted.
