Mulki in Cairo to co-chair joint committee meeting

AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Tuesday started an official two-day visit to Cairo, where he was scheduled to co-chair with his Egyptian counterpart Sherif Ismail the 26th session meetings of the Joint Jordanian-Egyptian Higher committee that will start on Wednesday.

The committee is scheduled to discuss bilateral cooperation, with special emphasis on economic ties, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, adding that at the end of the meetings there will be a signing of a set of agreements, memoranda of understanding and protocols on the cooperation between the two countries in different fields. 

Mulki was received at Cairo International Airport by Ismail and several Egyptian ministers and officials, along with Jordanian Ambassador in Cairo Bisher Khasawneh. 

The premier is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Jawad Anani, Labour Minister Ali Ghezawi, Transport Minister Yahya Kisbi, Energy Minister Ibrahim Saif, Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani, Agriculture Minister Rida Khawaldeh and Tourism Minister Lina Annab, in addition to senior officials. 

His Majesty King Abdullah was in Egypt this week, where he and President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi agreed to take bilateral ties and strategic cooperation to a new level.

Mulki and his team met with Egyptian officials in Amman earlier this month and urged swift solutions to outstanding issues in trade ties, including delayed registration of Jordanian firms in Egypt and other obstacles facing Jordanian products in the Egyptian market.
