MSF readjusting Jordan operations to ensure medical service continuity

AMMAN — Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders’ (MSF) Jordan Office on Saturday said that it has been readjusting its operations in the Kingdom since the start of the COVID-19 crisis to ensure that it can continue to offer its services and provide necessary support to the government during these critical times.

MSF said in a statement that, while it has stopped receiving regular patients at its reconstructive surgery hospital in Amman, it is still providing care for about 170 patients who were already in the hospital, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The international humanitarian medical organisation noted that it has reorganised the hospital to receive coronavirus patients as necessary and has provided training and support to the Jordan Medical Association to assist it in responding to the pandemic, adding that it looks forward to continuing cooperation with the Ministry of Health.

The organisation pointed out that it continues to provide mental health support remotely and delivers medications on a daily basis to patients with non-communicable diseases in both Irbid and Ramtha.

MSF also conducted a needs assessment in Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees, the organisation said in the statement, stressing its willingness to provide further support to government agencies as needed.
