AMMAN — Over 10,000 products from 700 companies are on show at the 13th China Machinex Exhibition, which opened on Sunday at the Amman International Motor Show.
Deputising for Prime Minister Hani Mulki, Public Works Minister Sami Halaseh inaugurated the three-day fair, which attracted businesspeople from China, Palestine, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Egypt, as well as Jordan, according to a ministry statement.
The exhibition features products from the renewable energy sector, and machinery for plastic manufacturing, packing and food production, as well as vehicle spare parts and electronics.
Jay Ma, a representative of a company specialised in plastic machines, said his firm is participating in the fair for the first time. He hopes to make deals with local companies to increase the volume of trade with Jordan.
“We already export some of our products to Jordan, with an annual value of around $10,000,” Ma told The Jordan Times, expecting his two-decade-old company to sign agreements at the exhibition that would boost sales to the Kingdom.
Ken Zeng said his company, which manufactures lead acid batteries mainly for trucks, has participated in the fair for five years in a row, and aims to attract new customers.
He echoed Ma’s hope that his company would expand its clientele in Jordan, adding that the firm, which was established in 1979, annually exports around $100,000 worth of goods to the Kingdom.
A third exhibitor who identified himself as Kyle, said that his moulding company had previously sold two machines to local companies, which encouraged them to participate in the exhibition for the first time in search of new customers.
