AMMAN — The job opportunities pledged by Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi will be provided in coordination with the government, Labour Minister Samir Murad said on Friday.

In a press statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Murad said that the jobs announced by the ministry are part of the government’s renaissance project.

The government has announced that it will provide a total of 30,000 jobs during 2019 by implementing the empowerment and employment programme, the minister said, noting that some 2,000 people had already received jobs as part of the programme since the beginning of the year.

He said that the programme aims to provide jobs for Jordanians, reduce unemployment rates in saturated specialisations, attract national workers, increase women’s participation in the labour market, expand recruitment programmes in cooperation with the private sector, encourage entrepreneurial work and support the business environment.

Murad added that the programme is based on training and rehabilitating Jordanians in priority economic sectors according to the labour market’s needs and requirements

He explained that the proposed jobs are the result of continuous coordination between the ministry and the private sector, and people can apply at employment offices across the Kingdom as well as the national employment website: www.nees.jo.

Last week, the ministry announced that interested jobseekers could visit employment offices to check for available jobs. The ministry said there are currently 217 available jobs in Aqaba, 122 in Maan, 624 in Irbid, 254 in Ajloun, 100 in Karak, 205 in Tafileh and 42 in Balqa.

A total of 92 jobs are also available in Mafraq, 660 in Zarqa, 636 in Amman, 280 in Jerash and 62 in Madaba.
