Ministry disbursing compensation over acquisitions for projected railway

AMMAN — The Transport Ministry has disbursed JD60 million out of JD102 million as compensation over land expropriations for the national railway network, Ali Odaibat, the ministry’s spokesperson, said Monday.
The ministry will disburse the remaining JD42 million next week, according to Odaibat. The ministry has acquired 36,120 dunums of land. The national railway project will link Jordan’s cities and the Kingdom with neighbouring countries, at a cost of around JD2 billion.
