Minister checks up on Kingdom’s water resources as cold front approaches

AMMAN — In light of the cold front forecast for Friday, Water Minister Raed Abul Saud checked on supervisors of water and sewage stations through remote communication from the ministry’s control room on Thursday morning.
Abul Saud, through a call with Water Ministry Secretary General Ali Subah, Secretary General of the Water Authority of Jordan Feras Al Azzam and officials in the sector, followed up on the progress of procedures to supply citizens with water and monitored water resources around the Kingdom, according to a ministry statement.
Assistant Secretary General of the Water Ministry’s dams department Hisham Heisa, through the online call, briefed the minister on measures to monitor dams and their safety.
Abul Saud also checked on the efforts of maintenance teams around the Kingdom, highlighting the importance of taking citizens’ feedback into consideration and keeping an eye on water containers and pumping stations connected to the control room through the early warning system in place.
At the end of the call, the minister instructed all water sector institutions to continuously coordinate with concerned entities, ministries and the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management, keeping citizens, shepherds and farmers updated, according to the statement.
Also on Thursday, Abul Saud instructed Subah to ensure that all operation and maintenance cadres in northern, central and southern Ghor be at the ready, utilising emergency staff at fields to increase farmers’ water quota so that they have what is required to maintain their crops.
