AMMAN — The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organisation (JSMO) is the only authority to set the standards of all goods and monitor anything that is made in Jordan, in addition to any products entering the Kingdom, JSMO Director General Haydar Zaben said Saturday.
At a meeting with secretaries general of political parties, Zaben said that JSMO had referred a draft law to the Lower House, suggesting stiffer penalties than in the existing law, where goods that do not meet Jordanian standards shall be returned to their country of origin.
Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Khalid Kalaldeh, who attended the meeting held in the ministry, said these meetings aim to exchange ideas and visions with different components of the Jordanian community.
