Members of US Senate, Congress hail Jordan’s role in instilling global peace, security

AMMAN — Members of the US Senate and Congress on Saturday emphasised the Kingdom’s pivotal role in enhancing global peace and security, reiterating their country’s keenness on cementing bilateral relations and advancing partnerships with Jordan.
In press remarks to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the American senators and representatives commended the Kingdom’s reform efforts, notably in the economic field.
Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations (SFOPS) Senator Chris Coons highlighted the long-lasting relations between the two countries, lauding His Majesty King Abdullah’s forward looking vision over the future of the regional issues.
Senator Chris Murphy, Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Near East, South Asia, Central Asia, and Counterterrorism, expressed the US Senate’s keenness on supporting Jordan, notably allocations, which is driven by the ongoing reform efforts.
Both the Democratic and Republican parties support strengthening US-Jordan relations, Senator Chris Van Hollen said, noting that all members of Congress from both parties have expressed interest in maintaining the partnership between both countries.
Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Chair of the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programmes Subcommittee highlighted His Majesty’s foresight and thorough understanding for the requirements of achieving global security and peace.
Congressman Ted Deutch, chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, commended the King’s efforts for bringing the Palestinians and Israelis back to the negotiating table.
Congressman Gregory Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said that the King has shared his vision over various issues, stressing that Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty is a key ally to the US.
Describing the meeting with His Majesty as “important”, Congresswoman Lisa McClain, member of the House Armed Services Committee, stressed that the two countries are on the same page to find promising solutions to the challenges and achieve global advancement.
