AMMAN — Members of the Jordan-UK Parliamentary Friendship Committee on Wednesday met with British Ambassador to Jordan Edward Oakden to discuss issues of mutual interest. Head of the committee MP Mahasen Sharaa called for a follow-up on the outcomes of the London initiative held in February, pointing to the need to support Jordan’s efforts to become more economically productive and competitive, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The MP also expressed appreciation for the UK’s efforts in supporting Jordan, shedding light on the historic relations between the two countries.
The meeting also addressed the Palestinian cause with Sharaa affirming the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s holy sites, which is a “safety valve” that guarantees everyone’s rights.
Meanwhile, Oakden hailed the Kingdom’s contributions to various regional causes of mutual interest and its role in sustaining security and stability.
