AMMAN — The Community Media Network (CMN), a non-profit organisation based in Amman, said on Monday it has launched a series of public service announcements (PSAs) to address extremism. The organisation has produced 10 radio PSAs and five video spots, which will be made available to local radio and TV stations, CMN said in a statement.
“At a time when we are seeing [radicalis] physically kill those who disagree with them, we are trying to send a message that there is a different and more civilised approach to solving our differences,” said CMN Director General Daoud Kuttab.
Some 45 Jordanians “representing the plurality of the country” met over the last five months to brainstorm the radio and TV spots, according to CMN. Despite initial reluctance, facilitators helped the group to work together to turn their ideas in creative products, said project director Ghassan Farraj.
