AMMAN — The seventh judicial commission for corruption cases on Tuesday sentenced a man to seven years in prison with temporary hard labour after being convicted of fraud related charges.
The commission said that the suspect, in partnership with a former MP, attempted to embezzle money through the retrieval of a cancelled nationality of a former Jordanian due to his extended departure from Jordan, Al Rai Arabic daily reported.
In another case, the same suspect, along with a former lawmaker, controlled frozen financial accounts that remained untouched. The money in these circumstances would be referred to the Treasury after a lapse of 15 years, in the case of the total amounts reaching JD700,000.
